Space Design & Fit-OutWe worked with the South West’s largest investment firm on a project to create a lounge area that would give their workforce a comfortable place to relax, mingle and work on self-development. The available space had always been very dark due to internal partitions blocking the floor-to-ceiling windows, so creating a lighter and brighter space was a priority.
We began by working with the client’s team to build a scheme and define colours, fabrics, shapes and styles they liked. Dark colours and a blend of industrial, vintage, raw metal and natural wood aesthetics were chosen, with inspiration taken from luxury hotels and whiskey bars. Under the watchful eye of one of our account managers, we began by stripping back the space to its original bare shell, removing everything from carpet and plasterwork to electrics, fixtures and fittings. We carried out unexpected, essential reworking to make new ceiling recesses, before creating a gorgeous new space that still met strict regulations on fire safety.
Special and one-off designs featured heavily in this bold and complex project. We inset deep pile vintage Christian LaCroix carpet to give the illusion of plush rugs without the trip hazards. We also worked with a joiner to design and build unique and impressive tables from solid oak.
Elsewhere, wipe-clean, vintage distressed leather surfaces were installed. The lounge’s kitchen area was redecorated using Metro tiling and a Corian surface for a stunning look and practicality. Our carefully selected finishing touches included lighting, feature lights and accessories like blankets and plants, together perfectly complimenting the overall look and atmosphere.
Staff now feel there’s a stylish and comfortable yet highly functional space to retreat to: one that feels a million miles from their nearby workstations.
