University of Bristol Student Accommodation

Most recently, during the 2019 summer holidays, we refurbished block C of their Hiatt Baker Hall student accommodation block. The project included the supply and installation of furniture and decoration of 54 bedrooms consisting of beds, desks, shelves, wardrobes, vanity units, noticeboards, mattresses and chairs.

Durability, practicality and aesthetics were some of the key factors taken into consideration during the furniture specification stage.

Typical of any large project, we did experience some challenges. Due to the large amount of furniture involved in the project, it was important that delivery dates were carefully considered to avoid storage problems onsite.

Time restrictions were also a challenge as we had just 8 weeks to complete the project. To tackle this, the Cobus team were careful to select products with lead times that suited the client’s time frames. We also kept in regular communication with the university to ensure they were kept up to date with progress.

The installation team were key in ensuring the completion date was met. The project was managed by a member of the installation team onsite who was able to identify opportunities to maximise installation efficiencies.

We were very happy with the end result, received overwhelmingly positive feedback from the customer and have already been invited back to discuss projects for 2020. We hope to continue to work closely with the university to help deliver high quality student accommodation that serves as a blank canvas for students to personalise and make their own.
