Cobus worked alongside long-standing partners The University of Bristol on a multi-purpose front-of-house collaboration space in their St Thomas Street Hall of Residence. The goal was to consolidate several functions – reception, social zone and workspace, and to address the needs of both students and staff. An additional consideration was that the building was in use, and that students should experience minimum disruption.
Key to the client’s brief was ensuring that colour and texture came together to provide a feeling of welcoming warmth. High quality materials were specified, reflecting the University’s brand while echoing its heritage and prestige.
Delivering to schedule meant collaborating closely with the main contractor. Our fully-accountable client lead worked hand-in-glove with their team, plus the University’s own project managers. Significant research and attention went into the selection of furnishings and finishes, ensuring that durability was seamlessly paired with a hospitality-inspired aesthetic.
