Checkfire approached Cobus with a clear vision: to create a modern, collaborative workspace that would support their operational needs while enhancing team dynamics. The project spanned two floors, with a focus on increasing desk and meeting space whilst incorporating several specialised rooms, including a photography studio and a showroom.

As with many of our clients moving to larger accommodation, Checkfire faced several key challenges that needed to be addressed from their previous office space. Their existing meeting rooms were constantly booked, limiting team collaboration. Our designers included a variety of meeting spaces, including a large boardroom for 20-25 people and smaller meeting rooms for private conversations and one-on-ones. We also introduced informal meeting areas and touchdown points to give the staff more variety depending on their discussion.

With the open nature of the workspace, it required strategic noise management to ensure that vocal teams, such as Business Development and Sales, didn’t disrupt other departments like Finance. Soundproofing and feature panelling with acoustic backing were incorporated into the design in key areas to balance communication needs and minimize noise disruptions. This helped maintain a vibrant work environment while respecting the needs of different teams.

We adopted a monochromatic colour palette to reflect a modern, professional aesthetic. Red accents were introduced sparingly throughout the space, primarily in signage, creating a cohesive yet understated connection to the company’s brand colours. This approach ensured that the office maintained a sleek, professional look without overwhelming the space with bold colours.

By providing a single-source design and construction service, we minimised disruption to the business. The new office not only facilitates teamwork but also provides the quiet, focused spaces needed for individual productivity. Through strategic design and attention to detail, Checkfire now has a workspace that fosters communication, efficiency, and growth.
