This new-build advanced-manufacturing facility in Cambridge was designed around the client’s specialist production processes, bringing technical workspaces, supporting infrastructure and employee areas together within one carefully coordinated environment. The facility included controlled assembly and testing areas, specialist equipment zones and dedicated utility services, including enhanced ventilation, power and compressed-air provision. One of the main challenges was coordinating the structure and building services around equipment with precise access, clearance and operational requirements. These requirements were considered early in the design, allowing equipment locations, service routes and installation access to be resolved before construction began. Close coordination between the architectural, structural and engineering disciplines helped prevent clashes on site and protected the programme. The completed facility provides a practical, adaptable setting for advanced manufacturing, with the infrastructure needed to support safe production, technical accuracy and future operational growth.
