Our team was engaged by the prestigious Abingdon School in Oxfordshire to design and deliver a flexible, multi-function learning environment, configurable to accommodate multiple year groups while optimising capacity. A vaulted ceiling over part of the space meant that a critical consideration was managing the acoustics, ensuring noise did not permeate across different zones causing disruption. Managing challenges of this nature is an area in which the Cobus team has considerable experience.
A unique and striking feature was the inclusion of an artificial tree in the reading zone, lending it an atmosphere that was both fun and calming, and supporting both studying and socialising. The client’s scope of work encompassed classroom renovations, including a projects room.
Modular tables were specified giving almost limitless flexibility for different needs, classes and scenarios, and an inventive acoustic feature piece was created across one wall of the room, themed around the periodic table.
