Cheltenham Ladies’ College, a long-term client of Cobus, briefed us to refresh one of their busiest hubs, Porters Lodge. Being a reception for visitors as well as an area to receive deliveries and sign in contractors, aesthetics, durability and practicality were all key factors. What was originally a furniture and flooring project, developed into a completely turnkey refurbishment. Our task was to produce a space that would give the wow factor the college was looking for.

Our team worked closely with the college and maintained regular communication with them and our contractors throughout to ensure the project was delivered on time and within the strict budget. We were required to create a new electrical feed, relocate the data cabinet and install a suspended ceiling with new LED lighting.

We also removed the woodchip wallpaper, which proved to be a challenge, and redecorated. When we removed the wallpaper, we discovered that the walls were in a worse condition than originally thought and so we had to arrange for the walls to be plastered the Friday before Christmas so we did not delay any of the other works.

The old flooring had to be removed and replaced with Forbo LVT flooring in the reception area and Interface carpet tiles in the back office. We also sanded down and re-stained the parquet flooring to give it a complete refresh.

Completing this project over the 2-week Christmas break provided several challenges with contractors being unavailable so the final days of works were quite hectic however it was finished as planned to the same level of quality the college has come to expect from Cobus.

We went to great lengths to make sure this project was completed to the same high standard, despite the time and budget constraints, including re-framing an old photo dating back to 1893.

The feedback we have received from Cheltenham Ladies’ has been fantastic with the users being very happy with their new space. Cobus really enjoyed working on this project and the transformation of the space is amazing.
